Mayweather Now Refuses Rematch with Pacquiao.

Mayweather has refused a rematch with Pacquiao. This is the latest twist in the ongoing unanimous decision welterweight title victory handed to Mayweather last Saturday night. In a yet to be aired interview with Jim Gray which is scheduled to premiere on Showtime this Saturday at 9 p.m. ET, Mayweather calls Pacquiao a “sore loser” and a “coward” and further backtracks on recent reports that he would be interested in a rematch with Pacquiao. This is what he had to say: “Did I text (ESPN’s) Stephen A. Smith and say I will fight him again? Mayweather told Gray. “Yeah, but I changed my mind. At this particular time, no because he’s a sore loser and a coward… If you lost, accept the loss and say, Mayweather, you were the Better fighter.” In the Pacquiao camp, it was only revealed after his loss that he was indeed carrying an injury going into the fight. While Pacquiao acknowledged that the injury did limit him, he has refused to use this as a reason for his loss. Pacquiao underwent surgery on his rotator cuff on Wednesday and is expected to be out nine-to12-months. Here is what Mayweather had to say about the revelation: “Excuses, excuses, excuses. I’m not going to buy into that and I don’t want the public to buy into it. He lost. He knows he lost. I lost a lot of respect for him after all this.” Not only did Mayweather make, a lot of money, he also extended his unbeaten run to 48-0. The fight also went down in history as the most expensive fight ever. It is estimated that Mayweather pocketed well over $200M with Pacquiao making over $100M although the figures could rise once final figures from pay per view are factored in. Meanwhile, British boxer Amir Khan has said that he is open to fighting Mayweather this September. However, the 28 year old will first have to beat former welterweight champion Chris Algieri in a fight slated for the 29th of this month. Algieri lost to Pacquiao in November in a massive points decision and Khan knows that a loss to Algieri could ruin his dream of fighting Mayweather.

Overeem doubts Cro Cop rematch in the future: \’I broke him mentally\’

Back in 2008, Alistair Overeem and Mirko Flipovic met at Dream 6 in an anticipated heavyweight bout with a plot twist ending.  Overeem seemingly bested Cro Cop during the bout before he landed a devastating knee to the groin that brought about an unceremonious conclusion to the action.

Clearly in pain, CroCop was not allowed to resume the match under the recommendation of the ringside doctor. His corner later relayed to the announcers that Overeem\’s knee to the groin had temporarily lodged his right testicle into his body.

Given the history between them, Overeem doesn\’t expect Cro Cop to come calling for a rematch against him anytime soon.

“Actually, I don\’t think so, because he\’s got a bad memory of me. In the fight, if we\’re going to be honest, I beat him and I broke him mentally, and I think – when I see him out it\’s all good, it\’s all good – but he\’s the kind of a guy that holds a grudge from deep within, and I think that\’s still a little bit in there.”

“I don\’t think so because for him I\’m a headache. He knows that.”

Wladimir Klitschko Vows to \’Shut Tyson Fury Up\’ in British-Based World Title Fight

Tyson Fury is an undefeated British boxer that believes it\’s right to become the heavyweight champion of the world, and Wladimir Klitschko is the long-reigning world champion that believes nobody will beat him before he [soon] retires. The Ukrainian star usually fights in Germany, but it\’s believed that he\’s willing to come to Britain, possibly fighting at Wembley Stadium, to silence his [in all likeliness] next opponent, Fury. American adviser Shelly Finkel, has had his say, as has Frank Warren, Fury\’s promoter. This looks set to be one of the biggest boxing shows the world has ever seen, and if it\’s at Wembley Stadium, then expect an 80,000+ fanbase made up of mostly Brits. Can Fury become the champ?

Finkel explained “There\’s a very good chance (of it taking place) in the UK. I\’m sure Wlad is going to fight Fury in September or October. There\’s a very good chance of Wembley Stadium or Manchester. It\’s that big a fight, we believe. Two weeks ago Wladimir fought at Madison Square Garden and nobody knows Bryant Jennings but it was the highest-rated HBO fight in three years. That gives you some idea. And Tyson is the big-mouth from England.” Finkel went on to say “That goes with the territory. Of course he\’d love to shut him up once and for all. He would love to have a fight in the UK. It\’s a great fight area and Wlad has a big, big fan base there.” Frank Warren added to the belief that the bout WILL take place, saying, “Wladimir Klitschko and Tyson Fury is definitely on – it is now just a question of where and when. The WBO gave us 30 days to complete the talks, and the WBA have given us 60 days. With Billy Joe Saunders and Chris Eubank, and now Fury against Klitschko, we have the two biggest shows in the UK this year. We are looking at several stadiums for the Klitschko-Fury fight, which we believe will sell around 60,000 seats. It is a long-standing world champion against an undefeated challenger.. If the deal can\’t be done in the time, we will call for the purse bids. It\’s a tough negotiation because they have 75 of purse to play with in the bid so it will mean several million pounds to get Kitschko to come to the UK. It will be one of the richest fights we have ever done.” &&& It looks like Britain can prepare for what should be the biggest fight to ever grace its country. Will Wlad be unravelled by the undefeated Brit, or will Fury be silenced for good?
