Bellator boss confirms promotion to handle 'Cyborg' medical bills, will pay 'win' bonus

Bellator President Scott Coker said Evangelista Santos can rest easier as he recovers from a devastating knockout blow at this weekend’s Bellator 158 event.
Not only did Coker confirm that the promotion will take care of any and all medical bills stemming from “Cyborg” Santos’ skull-crushing knockout loss to Michael Page, but the Bellator head said the organization will also pay the Brazilian slugger his “win” bonus, as well.
“I’ve been a huge fan of ‘Cyborg’ throughout the many years that he has fought for us,” Coker stated to MMAjunkie. “The guy brings it every single time out, and that’s all you can ask for from a fighter. That being said, you never want to see a fighter sustain an injury like that.
“Bellator representatives have been present with him at the hospital throughout this process, and we are taking care of any medical bills that he incurs. In addition, we are going to go ahead and pay ‘Cyborg’ his win bonus to help him find a little extra comfort throughout his recovery process, which we hope is a speedy one.”
Coker declined to confirm the amount of Santos’ “win” bonus, which is typically the same amount as a fighter’s guaranteed “show” money in MMA, giving athletes a chance to double their income with a victory.
Santos suffered a knockout loss via flying knee to “Venom” Page at Saturday’s Bellator 158 event at The O2 in London. The longtime veteran crashed to the floor after the highlight finish and was hospitalized shortly after.
His ex-wife, Cristiane Justino, today took to Instagram to post a horrific picture of the aftermath.
