Ultimate Championship (UFC) will deliver its latest mixed martial arts (MMA) network television offering, UFC on FOX 8, when it returns to the KeyArena in Seattle, Wash., TONIGHT (Sat., July 27, 2013).
“Johnson vs. Moraga” will feature a Flyweight championship main event as Demetrious Johnson puts his 125-pound title on the line against top contender John Moraga. In the co-main event, surging Welterweight prospect Rory MacDonald meets the hard-hitting Jake Ellenberger in what is being pegged as a No. 1 contender elimination bout.
That\’s not all.

125 lbs.: UFC Flyweight Champion Demetrious Johnson vs. John Moraga
Round one: Moraga steps forward with a right hand and Johnson dances away, diving in with a right of his own. Moraga again steps inside looking for a right right but he eats a body kick. Johnson is just flying around the cage. he lands a leg kick and Moraga tries to respond with a right hand. Good leg kick by Moraga and then another. Moraga presses Johnson into the fence, throwing a knee up the middle and Johnson reverses the position. Johnson drops down for a takedown and gets it, as Moraga is looking for a guillotine choke. Johnson passes to side control to relieve the pressure. Johnson drops an elbow from top position and he steps over Moraga\’s arm briefly looking for a crucifix but Moraga fights out of it. Johnson postures up and drops a couple right hands. Johnson has a head lock and drops a few knees to the body. He works for a guillotine choke right at the end of the round but the horn sounds off. 10-9 Johnson
Round two: Moraga is looking for more leg kicks early and Johnson responds with a kick of his own. Johnson perfectly times a takedown and easily dumps Moraga on his back. Moraga throws some elbows from bottom and Johnson passes to side control. Johnson has a mounted crucifix and he drops a few nice short right hands. Moraga scrambles and ties up Johnson with his legs but doesn\’t have anything and Johnson is able to slip free and move right back to side control. Johnson throws some right hands to the body and he\’s looking to isolate Moraga\’s arm. Nice elbow from Johnson and he\’s putting on a clinic right now against Moraga. Johnson has a reverse body lock and he throws some knees to the body from behind and he slams Moraga to the canvas again. Moraga finally gets some space and pops back to his feet, throwing some short strikes on the inside. Moraga creates some space and pops Johnson with a jab and a low kick but Johnson explodes forward and takes him down again with ease. Johnson lands in side control but Moraga retains side control. Johnson drops a copule elbows and some punches until time expires. 10-9 Johnson
Round three: Moraga lands a nice right hand and he steps forward with another big shot but Johnson avoids it. Body kick from Johnson and he\’s biding his time for another takedown, eventually shooting in and dumping Moraga on the canvas. Moraga tries to throw his legs up but Johnson uses this to easily pass to side control again. Moraga turtles and Johnson attempts to take his back but he can\’t get it and he gets back to his feet. Moraga throws big punches, forcing a clinch with Johnson and he lands a nice knee to the thigh. Moraga tries to throw Johnson to the ground but Johnson reverses him and lands on top. Johnson steps over and he\’s looking to try and finish this fight with a Kimura but Johnson rolls on top and escapes. Moraga pins Johnson into the fence throwing a couple knees and he takes Johnson down but Johnson pops his hips out and gets right back up. Moraga tries a wild spinning kick but it\’s out of control and he falls down. He follows up with a couple punches at the horn. 10-9 Johnson
Round four: Moraga steps forward aggressively and he needs something drastic after those first three rounds. Johnson lands a nice body kick and Moraga tries to respond but Johnson shoots in and takes him down. Moraga turtles but Johnson has a head lock, spinning to the back and dragging him back down. Johnson gives Moraga a kick to the body as he pops back up. Good low kick from Johnson and he fires off a very solid knee up the middle. Johnson steps inside with a punch but drops down for a takedown and puts him on his back again. Moraga tries to attack from his back but they pop back to their feet and clinch where Johnson unloads a couple solid knees. Johnson lands a knee as Moraga drops down changing levels and he presses Moraga into the fence with a head lock. Johnson backs off and throws a combination and Moraga presses forward pushing him into the fence. Head kick just misses for Johnson. Moraga lands a very nice right hand but Johnson take advantage of his aggression and takes him down until the round ends. Johnson is bleeding now from his nose. 10-9 Johnson
Round five: Johnson is still bleeding out of his nose as the round begins. Moraga steps forward with a heavy body strike and Johnson responds with a low kick. Another nice low kick from Johnson and he ducks down, taking Moraga down with ease. Moraga attempts a few up kicks but Johnson passes to side control again. Moraga turtles and tries to get up but Johnson is all over him. Johnson has a front head lock as Moraga turtles again and he knees him in the shoulder. Moraga pops back to his feet and Johnson attempts a trip but instead just drags him back to the canvas. Johnson drops a couple elbows from side control and he isolates an arm. Johnson steps over Moraga and extends his arm, forcing Moraga to tap with about a minute left! Wow!
Final result: Demetrious Johnson defeats John Moraga via submission (armbar)

170 lbs.: Jake Ellenberger vs. Rory MacDonald
Round one: No glove touch from either man. Stiff jab from MacDonald gets things started. Ellenberger tries to lunge inside with some hooks but MacDonald avoids it easily. MacDonald is doing some feints and some shimmys but neither man is engaging yet and the round is half over. Crowd is starting to get restless over the inaction. Ellenberger steps inside and tries to fire off some short uppercuts. MacDonald\’s nose is bleeding a little bit and he responds with some jabs. Slow going though. Ugh that round sucked. 10-10
Round two: Front kick by MacDonald and another kick. Ellenberger fires off a counter left hook but he eats a couple jabs. The crows is letting both men have it. Ellenberger shoots in for a takedown but MacDonald backs into the fence and stuff it. Ellenberger throws a kick and MacDonald ducks down for a takedown but backs off. Head kick from MacDonald and another. MacDonald pops off a couple more jabs and the crowd is letting them have it with a chorus of boos in all sorts of melodies and harmonies. 10-9 MacDonald
Round three: MacDonald fires off some front kicks early, doubling them up and keeping Ellenberger at range. MacDonald attempts a Brazilian kick and he\’s starting to open up a littel bit more. Jab from MacDonald and Ellenberger tries to step inside but can\’t get a hold of him. MacDonald slips throwing a kick but Ellenberger doesn\’t do anything with the opportunity, he\’s frozen in his tracks. MacDonald keeps up with the jabs and Ellenberger has 60 seconds to work. Ellenberger shoots in for a takedown and gets it, landing inside MacDonald\’s guard. Ellenberger is getting completely neutralized inside the guard and he can\’t even get any punches off from top position. MacDonald attempts an omaplata as time expires. 10-9 MacDonald
Final result: Rory MacDonald defeats Jake Ellenberger via unanimous decision (30-27×2, 29-28)

170 lbs.: Robbie Lawler vs. Bobby Voelker
Round one: Lawler comes out swinging but he misses with a combination. Inside leg kick from Voelker and Lawler lands a big kick to the body. Lawler gets inside and easily takes Voelker down. Voelker works his way back to his feet but Lawler has his hands on him and works some knees to the body. Lawler switches with a knee to the head and Voelker\’s nose is busted up. He\’s bleeding pretty bad. Big uppercut from Lawler and they\’re back to exchanging in the cage center. Lawler throws a head kick and a flying knee, but they\’re partially blocked. he looks like the much better and more explosive athlete here. Voelker throws a body kick but Lawler clips him with a right hook. Voelker is overmatched here big time. Big head kick from Lawler and a flying knee. They trade until the horn. 10-9 Lawler
Round two: Lawler slips dodging a strike, but then he unloads a HUGE head kick just as Voelker ducks down! Voelker drops on his keister and Lawler follows him to the canvas with a massive right hand and that\’s a wrap.
Final result: Robbie Lawler defeats Bobby Voelker via knockout (head kick) at 0:24 of round two

135 lbs.: Jessica Andrade vs. Liz Carmouche
Round one: Carmouche opens with a quick clinch and she scores a big takedown landing directly into side control. Andrade rolls over trying to escape trouble and she pops back to her feet but eats a few knees to her thighs for her trouble. Andrade jockeys for position along the fence but Carmouche scores another trip takedown into half guard. Andrade pushes off the fence trying to escape but Carmouche passes to side control. Andrade turtles again and Carmouche tries to jump on her back in a crucifix but Andrade dumps her to the ground. Andrade goes for an arm-in guillotine but it doesn\’t look lik eshe completely has it. Carmouche knees her in the thigh a couple times and she hangs on until the horn. 10-9 Carmouche
Round two: Andrade presses forward and Carmouche slams her to the ground, dropping some heavy punches from top position. Carmouche steps over into full mount. She postures up and unloads huge punches. Andrade rolls over and Carmouche unloads big punches. Carmouche sinks in a choke but Andrade turns away from it and escapes. Andrade is trying to escape but Carmouche is all over her and she\’s dropping big punches. Elbows from Carmouche now and the referee is warning Andrade to fight back and Andrade keeps trying to roll but she can\’t escape. I\’m flabbergasted as to why the ref hasn\’t put a stop to it. Finally he puts a halt to the fight.
Final result: Liz Carmouche defeats Jessica Andrade via TKO (punches) at 3:57 of round one

UFC ON FOX 8 PLAY-BY-PLAY “PRELIMS” COMMENTARY (FX):
155 lbs.: Michael Chiesa vs. Jorge Masvidal
Round one: Chiesa throws a left hook and dives inside looking for a takedown. Masvidal fends him off along the fence but Chiesa has a death grip on his leg. Chiesa scores a takedown briefly but eats a couple elbows and Masvidal is back to his feet. Chiesa clinches and blasts Masvidal with a huge left hand and he\’s got Masvidal hurt! Chiesa grabs a hold of Masvidal\’s neck with a choke but Masvidal fights out of it. Masvidal fires back with a huge body kick and a combination of punches and this fight just got damn interesting. Chiesa again scores with a combination. he looks much sharper than in previous bouts. Straight left connects for Chiesa and he\’s getting a bit wild here as Masvidal throws a 1-2 and a counter left. Heavy body kick from Chiesa and Masvidal unloads a heavy knee to the body. Combination from Chiesa and Masvidal fires right back. Right and then a left hook for Masvidal score and then a left hook to the liver. Damn that was a crazy round. 10-9 Chiesa
Round two: Chiesa shoots in for a takedown and he gets it but Masvidal is leveraging himself agains tthe fence. Masvidal latches on a guillotine choke and he\’s got it tight but Chiesa breaks free after a brief struggle. Chiesa works for another takedown but Masvidal steps over and digs with some heavy body shots. Masvidal is starting to find his groove now. Masvidal catches a kick and Chiesa awkwardly flails with his other leg but this allows Masvidal to take top position on the ground. Chiesa tries to post but Masvidal unloads some big right hands and then a few nice elbows. Huge knee to the body by Masvidal and he\’s staying right on Chiesa here. Masvidal thinks about a choke but is content to take the top position. Masvidal works for a D\’Arce choke and he has it locked in and he forces a tap with one second left in the round! Wow!
Final result: Jorge Masvidal defeats Michael Chiesa via submission (D\’Arce Choke) at 4:59 of round two

155 lbs.: Danny Castillo vs. Tim Means
Round one: Means connects with a right hand early but Castillo responds by shooting in and dumping him on his back. Means grabs a body triangle from bottom and Castillo attacks with a can opener from above. Castillo postures up and tries to land a couple elbows. Means cage walks back to his feet but Castillo lifts him up and slams him down again. Castillo jumps on his back looking for a choke but Means scrambles and scores with a knee. Means connects with a big right hand and another knee but Castillo presses him into the fence, locks his hands together and slams him to the canvas again. 10-9 Castillo
Round two: Means stuff a takedown attempt and fires off a big knee in the clinch. Castillo steps inside with a right hand that connects. Means is doing his best to make it difficult for Castillo to get anything going on the feet. Means motions for Castillo to “bring it” and Castillo shoots in, taking him down along the fence and quickly starts throwing some short punches from above. They scramble and Castillo grabs a reverse body lock, taking Means down again and landing a knee to the back of the leg. 10-9 Castillo
Round three: Right and from Castillo and Means responds with a knee and a sneaky back elbow. Means grabs a clinch and knees Castillo in the head a pair of times, backing him off. Castillo scores with a left hook that catches Means on the chin. Another crisp left hand connects for Castillo. Means lands a huge knee and Castillo responds with a takedown attempt. He drags Castillo to the ground but Means reverses him and he\’s on top in side control. Left hand from Means and he jumps over Castillo\’s guard but Castillo pops to his feet and cracks him with a pair of right hands. 10-9 Means
Final result: Danny Castillo defeats Tim Means via unanimous decision (29-28×3)

155 lbs.: Mac Danzig vs. Melvin Guillard
Round one: Left jab from Guillard and then a right hand. Danzig responds with a leg kick. Heavy leg kick from Guillard and he scores with a right hand. Danzig pressures forward with a clinch and Guillard takes inside position, landing knees and backing off. Big leg kick and right hand from Guillard and Danzig is having trouble catching up to him in the striking department. Danzig lands a leg kick and Guillard pops him with a couple jabs before following up with his right hand. Danzig shoots in looking for a takedown but Guillard shrugs him off easily. Guillard is landing that lead left jab every time he throws it. Good left jab slightly staggers Danzig and he tries to respond with a combination to the body but Guillard finishes the round with a nice body kick. 10-9 Guillard
Round two: Danzig shoots in for a takedown again and he grabs a reverse body lock but Guillard squirms free and goes back to the left jab. Big right hand up the middle by Guillard and he catches a leg but can\’t follow up. Guillard scores with a stiff left hook and Danzig is in a world of trouble and Guillard swarms him with massive strikes. Danzig tries to survive but Guillard unloads some of the most violent hammerfists I\’ve ever seen in my life and Danzig goes out cold. Holy hell that was brutal! Danzig is in a world of hurt as officials surround him.
Final result: Melvin Guillard defeats Mac Danzig via knockout (punches) at 2:47 of round two

Round one: Cruickshank throws a kick to the body, then a punch and another kick to the body. Edwards responds with a sneaky head kick over the top that clips him. Edwards steps forward with a big combination, backing Cruickshank into the fence. Leg kick from Edwards and he\’s looking for an opportunity to explode. Cruickshank catches him coming in with a right hand and they reset. Leg kick from Edwards but Cruickshank pops him with a body kick. They trade again and Edwards scores with a nice left hook. Spinning kick just misses for Cruickshank before the horn. 10-9 Edwards
Round two: Edwards is doing his best job to pressure Cruickshank and repeatedly back him up towards the fence. Cruickshank responds with spurts of explosive striking and occasional kicks to the body. Head kick from Cruickshank grazes Edwards. Cruickshank unloads to the body but Edwards fires right back and goes high with a head kick. Push kick from Edwards and Cruickshank lands a spinning back first then a 1-2 but nothing seriously damaging. 10-9 Cruickshank
Round three: Edwards steps inside but eats a right hand. Edwards throws a kick to the body and Cruickshank fires back with some left hands to the body. Head kick from Cruickshank and he lands a right hand during an exchange. Edwards is starting to get flustered a bit and he steps forward with a right hand. Outside leg kick lands for Edwards. Cruickshank just misses with an axe kick and a side kick scores to the body. Another body kick but Edwards blocks it and does the same with a wheel kick. Outside leg kick by Cruickshank and Edwards responds with a pair of his own. Edwards steps inside but Cruickshank backs him off with a pair of straight punches. Cruickshank throws a lunging knee but comes up short. Cruickshank grabs a single leg looking for a takedown but gives up on it. They trade leg kicks and think about some big spinning attacks but nothing significant lands as the horn sounds. 10-9 Cruickshank
Final result: Daron Cruickshank defeats Yves Edwards via split decision (30-27×2, 27-30)

135 lbs.: Julie Kedzie vs. Germaine de Randamie
Round one: Both sit down in their stances looking to pounce and Kedzie shoots in but gets shrugged off quickly. Kedzie lands a left hook that drops Randamie and she closes the distance but gets stuck in a clinch with her back against the fence. Kedzie tries to fend off with short punches but Randamie is scoring with short knees. They jockey for position Randamie keeps throwing knees and Kedzie attempts to drag her down but can\’t finish it. Randamie briefly loses the position but she again presses Kedzie into the cage and goes back to work with the low knees. They get separated by the referee and Kedzie lands a leg kick. Randamie fires back with body kick but Kedzie catches it and punches her in the face a couple times, also landing a low kick. They again clinch and Randamie gets the better of Kedzie in the clinch and she wings a few knees to the body. 10-9 Randamie
Round two: Leg kick from Randamie and Kedzie backs her off with an offerhand right. Randamie scores with a front kick and wings a head kick but she comes up short. Kedzie\’s having trouble finding her range, getting kicked on the outside and kneed on the inside. Inside leg kick from Kedzie and she scores with a head kick and an uppercut down the middle. Randamie responds with a right hand. Combination from Kedzie and she caps it off with an inside leg kick then she shoots for a takedown and gets it, dumping Randamie on her back along the fence. Kedzie is inside Randamie\’s guard but she needs to make something happen either with punches or advancement of position. If she doesn\’t pass, she\’ll get stood up. Kedzie throws a couple short left hands and she hangs out in half guard. Kedzie drops some right hands to the body until the round finishes. 10-9 Kedzie
Round three: Kedzie steps forward aggressively throwing punches and she scores but Randamie grabs a clinch. Kedzie attempts to take her down but can\’t get it. Randamie secures a clinch and fires off a couple knees but Kedzie reverses the position and presses her into the fence. Randamie reverses again and now she\’s on the inside as both ladies try to score on the inside. Knee from Randamie and they separate. Randamie steps forward with a huge right hand and connects. Kedzie responds with a side kick. Good combination from Kedzie capped off with a body kick. Big right hand from Randamie and Kedzie just misses with a spinning wheel kick. This is still anyone\’s fight an dKedzie shoots in for a takedown but can\’t secure it. Body kick from Kedzie and she catches a leg kick from Randamie, landing inside her guard. Left hands from Kedzie but she\’s having trouble posturing up. Randamie throws elbows from bottom and Kedzie fires off some punches until the bell. 10-9 de Randamie but she didn\’t do much with that takedown so the third round could go either way.
Final result: Germaine de Randamie defeats Julie Kedzie via split decision (30-27, 28-29, 29-28)

185 lbs.: Ed Herman vs. Trevor Smith
Round one: Herman comes out firing with some big punches and Smith pushes him into the fence. Herman wings some uppercuts on the inside and a few knees. Smith fires back with a couple knees of his own and he\’s starting to accumulate some damage. It\’s the battle of uppercuts versus knees and Smith is starting to get the better of it. Smith lands a nice left hook on the break and Herman staggers him with a huge right hand of his own. Huge uppercuts and a knee from Herman and Smith fires back with a knee. Huge right hand from Smith rocks Herman but he doesn\’t follow up. Another left from Smith and Herman is flailing at him trying to create some space. Outside leg kick from Smith and Herman swarms him with a huge right hand a big flurry of strikes. Smith is rocked and both men are just wailing on each other. Smith grabs a clinch again and scores with an elbow then a knee before they separate. Good right from Smith down the middle catches Herman and Smith scores with a leg kick as Herman plods forward. Smith shoots in for a takedown but Herman fends him off and they clinch. Knee from Herman and then another. Herman blasts Smith and has him in big trouble at the end of the round but he hangs on. Smith is bleeding her his right eye. 10-9 Herman
Round two: Herman walks through a head kick and levels Smith with a copule hooks. Smith drops and turtles but he explodes to his feet and wings a kick as Herman tries to follow him. Good left hook from Herman and they clinch with Herman taking inside position after Smith fails a hip toss. Herman scores with a right hand and then a jab. Right hand from Smith and Herman may have been poked. Herman lands another left hook during an exchange and Smith shoots in for a takedown, putting Herman on his back against the fence. Huge body shot from Smith and Herman responds with a knee but eats a right hand. Herman clinches and fires off some uppercuts and body shots on th einside. Smith reverses the position and scores with a knee then a short elbow but Herman shoots in for a takedown and dumps Smith on his back. Smith attempts a guillotine but Herman passes to side control as time expires. 10-9 Herman
Round three: Left hook from Smith and then a right. He scores with an inside kick but Herman shoots in and takes him down. Smith attempts guillotine but Herman pops free and works for an arm triangle choke. Herman attempts to pass to side control but can\’t retain the position and Smith explodes to his feet. Nice right hand from Herman but Smith counters with an outside leg kick. Both men are keeping their hands pretty low and appear exhausted. Herman initiates a clinch, pressing Smith into the fence and throwing a couple knees. Smith circles away and Herman lands a knee up the gut. Lead left hook scores for Smith. Smith throws a kick that hits the groin. Herman only takes a couple seconds and they reset. Leg kick from Smith and he lands another left hook. Smith is doing a better job of moving here. Head kick from Smith and Herman goes to work with uppercuts and knees in the clinch. Overhand left lands for Smith and then another at the bell. 10-9 Smith
Final result: Ed Herman defeats Julie Kedzie via split decision (27-30, 30-27, 29-28)

155 lbs.: Aaron Riley vs. Justin Salas
Round one: Both men wing strikes and Riley scores with a short punch. Salas catches Riley hunching over with a kick but it\’s partially blocked. Leg kick from Riley and he\’s playing with fire with that constant ducking. Riley has control of the cage center and Salas scores with a right hand after planting his feet, then shoots in and takes him down, but Riley pops back to his feet. Salas wings a combination and cracks Riley with a right hook. Another short right lands for Salas but Riley pops him with a right of his own. Salas shoots in for a takedown and briefly gets it but Riley pops back up with ease again. Nice right hand from Salas again and he\’s scoring every time Riley comes in. Riley stuffs a takedown attempt near the end of the frame. 10-9 Salas
Round two: Salas opens with a nice takedown and Riley kicks him off, popping back to his feet. Riley keeps pressing forward and Salas pops him with a right counter. They clinch and Salas scores with some knees up the middle and Riley is bleeding. Riley throws a kick but Salas takes him down. Riley\’s nose is bleeding heavily now. Another right counter from Salas and Riley attempts a takedown but it doesn\’t last long. Neither fighter gets much going until time expires. 10-9 Salas
Round three: They trade head kicks and Salas attempts a single-leg takedown but Riley backwards somersaults to escape it. Salas peppers Riley with some short right hands and Riley\’s only response is to tap his chin. Left hook over the top by Riley and Salas responds with a right. Good right hands from Salas and a head kick but it\’s blocked. Salas\’ movement on the outside is making it nearly impossible for Riley to hit him. Riley ate an eye poke and he\’s just bleeding profusely now. They reset after a brief break and Riley turns it on, scoring with a huge leg kick that wobbles Salas. Another nice leg kick connects and Salas responds with an inside kick. Riley changes levels but Salas shrugs him off and throws a head kick. Big head kick from Riley! Salas was wobbled for a second but Riley doesn\’t follow up. Salas is bleeding now and he wings another head kick but Salas ducks under it. They trade big strikes all the way to the bell. 10-9 Riley

Round one: Albert opens aggressively with some punches followed by a crisp leg kick. Albert again presses forward with a leg kick but Meza changes levels and takes him down. Albert looks for a guillotine but Meza slips free and settles into his guard. Albert goes to mission control briefly but gives up on it. Meza stands up and Albert presses forward into a takedown. Meza grabs a guillotine himself and pulls guard but Albert passes to side control to relieve the pressure. Albert transitions to a far-side armbar attempt and he\’s got his legs in the spiderweb position. He\’s working to extend Meza\’s arm and he rolls over to make it belly down but he still hasn\’t extended the arm. Meza stacks him up and Albert gives up on it. Albert rolls into half guard on the bottom, eating a right hand from Meza. Meza again transitions for a guillotine choke and he passes to mount. Albert guts through it, separates the hold and sweeps him right at the end of the frame. 10-9 Meza
Round two: Heavy leg kick from Meza knocks Albert off balance and Albert again attacks with a guillotine choke. Albert gives up on it and locks in a triangle! There\’s some extra space for Meza and Albert needs to adjust it if he wants to finish this choke. Meza stands up trying to escape and Albert tightens the choke. Albert presses down on Meza\’s head and Meza\’s in big trouble. Albert gives up on the choke and he looks exhausted. Meza turns into him takes his back looking for a choke. Meza has backmount and he flattens Albert out. He locks in a rear naked choke and forces the tap.
Final result: Yaotzin Meza defeats John Albert via submission (rear naked choke) at 2:49 of round two
